My loved one was only here for a few months. I would have liked the administrators to check in with the resident a few times. Mom wasn't always able to communicate with care attendants very well. We would recommend Elk Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center and we would have Mom stay there again, if necessary.

Almost every time that I went to see her she would be sleeping in her room. The day that I brought her home to be with me, her room smelled like a dog was living in there. It wasn't a dog. It was my unclean mother that looked like she hadn't been in a shower for at least two weeks.

There are so many pluses, I think the negatives are coming from The guardian That we chose and are in the process of removing. However at some point in the last year management has changed, the facility has started smelling of urine and the food quality has gone down. So changes have happened but I imagine turnover is tremendous and it's a very hard job and something challenging to manage. There is a possibility with the new Guardian that we might find a different facility. Or shall I say look for a different facility. My favorite thing about the facility is that the activities director is phenomenal. They are constantly doing things constantly going places they are very engaged lots of little parties. Which I think is the most important thing for my mother she's very social. When we first moved in I felt like the staff Was phenomenal it was cleaner The food was better.

My loved one was previously a resident at Elk Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center and the experience was poor. Due to the unclean environment, theft of personal property, food that looked unappetizing and poor quality of care....I ended up moving my loved one to a different facility. I would not recommend Elk Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center to others.

We haven't been there since [date removed] since dad passed away. The biggest problem we had was things missing from dad's room. Still trying to get a quilt back. I understand the environment but at some point items should reappear like his glasses. My focus has not been on he facility as it has I have ben focused on finalizing his last paper work. If it wasn't for those things, it would have ben all 5 star. He lost his quilt, glasses, watch and a ring. These were items he wouldn't give up so we didn't take them away from him. We should have known better. They were all very very nice and helpful. Personal items. Locked up closet doors would help a lot. Dad also like to pack his things and a locked door would help with that and keep others out of the closet as well.

We couldn't be happier with our choice!! The entire staff at Elk Ridge are amazing! Mom has the opportunity to join in the various activities or if she just wants to snuggle up for a nap that's OK as well. She never feels pressured to join. They allow each person their independence no matter where they are at in the disease process, each person is treated with integrity, respect and patience. I am always kept informed of how mom is doing especially if something has changed or something has happened. I know I can stop in to see mom any time, any day and she is well taken care of, feels safe and happy.

Staff are very friendly and genuinely care about the residents. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly. Facility is clean. It’s been difficult for us to place mom in a memory care facility but we feel assured that she is safe and well cared for.

Elkridge was very helpful and customer service oriented as we were on-boarding. They made the process very easy. After we got there, beyond minimal care needs we were pretty much ignored. This facility was not a good fit for our person and I think management knew that from the start, but they had several open rooms at the end of the year and were eager to fill them. I would NOT recommend this facility. We were there for a short time - in that time not one person from leadership called to ask us how it was going or what we might need. The food was terrible - the menu was not provided on a monthly calendar as promised. Sometimes it wasn;t even posted on the whiteboard outside the dining room. Rice was served at nearly every meal and hot dogs were served nearly every week. There was rarely any fresh fruits and vegetables. And as an aside - candy was handed out frequently and not just a piece or two - but by the bag full. We found lots of candy wrappers in the room when we moved out. Our person gained 20 pounds in 2 months. The daily care staff were good people. Obviously, they cared about our person, but it was not obvious who had what role. It was VERY difficult to learn people's names as not everyone wore a name tag that was visible and there were lots of new people, in and out. One of our prescriptions ran out and we learned this from our person, not the med staff. It took weeks to replenish - there was NOT good communication. We spent nearly $20K in a little over two months at Elkridge and when we left and asked for some of the fees to be returned to us, we were denied. This organization takes money, provides the minimum services and doesn't care if you stay or go.

It was recommended by a friend. I would recommend it to a friend, as well. We had an excellent experience. I picked this place because of the friendly and homey atmosphere. The administrator and activities directors ad wonderful.

The staff is really wonderful, especially the executive director and activity director. The facility needs some deep cleaning, especially the screens in the heating units and in the hallways. The windows are dirty! The floor in the dining room needs a thorough cleaning after each meal! Quite often it was sticky! In the summer the plants needed more consistent watering in their beautiful courtyards. It is such a gorgeous facility but it needs to be kept that way.

We gave the meals and dining service an overall 3, but with the new cook they have things are starting to improve. What we like the most about the Elk Ridge community is the loving and caring staff as well as the music. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far. Friends and family repeatedly comment on how nice a place this is.

I would tell others looking into Elk Ridge to label everything. Things tend to walk off with memory care. With that being said, leave valuable items with family. Beyond that my experience has ben very good. The room sizes are very good, but I think that more single rooms should be offered and at the same price as the shared rooms. I gave them a 3 due to missing things and lack of phone calls when my dad has to go to the ER.

Elk Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center was a good place for my loved one, but there were definitely some deficiencies. My loved one truly needed more care than they could provide. I would recommend this facility to friends and family, depending on level of care needs.

The staff here are very kind and patient, I'm always seeing them interacting with patients. They have a lovely care team. I like that it's a small facility, they seem to have enough staff, which is critical. It's a good facility and I would recommend them to others. My mother's mattress isn't good at Elk Ridge, my biggest complaint. She doesn't always like the food, and she gained an alarming amount of weight... these are our only issues.

She spent her final days in a warm, caring, considerate and comfortable environment. We were very happy with our tour experience at Elk Ridge. It was very comparable to the facility that we chose. The only reason we chose the other one was because they had an LPN that was on staff 24/7 which was hard to find anywhere else.
