Great facility.

Someday it did smell like urine when you walked in the door very rare, though.. I did feel like they could have spent more attention with them. Activity director was awesome. It's just staff did not follow through. Better than other memory care Prices.

Visitor of resident

I was very pleased to see the family like atmosphere. I love the woodsy setting of the facility. All the residents seem comfortable and happy. The staff treat the residents with love and respect. The facility was clean. It is outdated and could use a remodel but the area that I visited seemed to be enjoyed by the residents. I like that the residents have an area that they can go outside and enjoy some sunshine and nature but still have security for their protection.

Caregiver, Beware

There's good in every place but I'll speak mostly of the bad because I don't want anyone to go there. I made the mistake of rushing my loved one out of the confinement of a hospital and into the first place where he can be free to roam outdoors & engage with people. Greenlake reeked like urine daily from the getgo but I regrettably wanted my loved one free from the hospital environment quickly. At Greenlake, I changed his diaper to a different brand & color. Upon 7 days of my return visit, the same diaper had feces & urine. State Dept was not helpful. On another occasion I had to rush my loved one to the nearest Emergency Hospital when he had one ruby red eye with a bloody red ocular orbit. Staff had noticed condition for a few days but failed to notify me. I personally had to retrieve his meds at a pharmacy for this eye infection and UTI, and return to Greenlake with the meds. State Dept did give Greenlake a warning to fix a violent situation where one of the patients attacks several patients at different times including my loved one. I believe one victimized patient did not leave the hospital alive.

Gig Harbor at Green Lake Senior Living gives basic care, it is just very minimal and it just smells.

Very Satisfied

If you have not experienced Memory Care before, please be aware that I stayed away for about a week so that my loved one could adjust to the surroundings and the situation without me. As my father thought it was always time to go home. He still feels that way, although he doesn't know where home is. The staff at Gig Harbor at Green Lake Senior Living Memory Care are very kind and very helpful. They welcome you in at any time. Also, when it is meal time, they have no problem with seating you and your loved one at a different table so that you can visit away from the other residents. Anytime your loved one has an issue falls down or is being a stinker, they will call you to update. It took me a little while, but I realized that they were not calling to tattle, it was just to let me know that my loved one was okay and that they'd just had a situation and to explain how they'd handled it. I am very satisfied with the care that my father gets. It's a home environment.

I am VERY please with how my mama lives there.

At Greenlake, in Gig Harbor, my mama gets amazing care and treatment. Everyone there knows mama and me by name and gives her that special care that I have not seen in any other location. She is treated with respect and love, and they truly care about how happy and comfortable she is. I feel so blessed to have Greenlake to take care of my mama! I HIGHLY recommend this location for your loved ones. Thank you Greenlake!

Couldn't Have Chosen Better, For My Mom's Situation it was Great Reasonably Priced Also

Not sure if it is the same management they changed names but when I was there they were all great I really don't have any complaints they let us come and go as we wanted they were concerned about what she like to eat, and many other details, she had a room to herself, [name removed] was the manager at that time she was great. They were very clean neat organized good meals dependable and kind. That's not only my opinion but I talked to my sister and brothers as well they all agreed

Care has declined sharply under new management

Known as Olympic Alzheimer's Residence until about a year ago, the level of virtually every aspect of the once respected specialized community, dedicated to people living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia has declined precipitously. From cleanliness to care - or lack thereof, to the quality of staff, activities and responsiveness to enquiries from family, Green Lake Senior Living needs to step-up significantly.

Tour experience

The price was reasonable, but the facility was bigger with about 60 residents, we were looking for something more small and intimate. The community did not seem as active and the staff were not as involved as another place we were looking at. Our loved one would have also had to share a room here and we were looking for a private room.

Would not recommend

My spouse was a resident for 3 months and had early onset Alzheimer's. He was evaluated and we were assured they could meet his ever changing needs. We were happy with the decision and felt the facility was the best we had visited. 3 months later they advised they could not meet his needs and made up incidents regarding his behavior and he was evicted. He then spent 1 terrifying month in the hospital while we search for a better facility which thankfully we did. They do not care about the residents and have no idea how much pain they caused my spouse and family. They only care about taking in manageable residents and keeping their license. I will never refer them to anyone and have reported our horrible experiences to local caregiving companies and the Alzheimer's association

Olympic Alzheimer's Residence

Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease and having to find a reputable care facility for your loved one is a dauting task. Finding one that not only is extraordinarily professional, but has a staff of the most incredibly caring, loving, and kind people is a bonus! People that were just made for working where they are. The individuals at Olympic Alzheimer’s Residence in Gig Harbor, Washington are just those kind of people. This facility is staffed with the most amazing professionals. My husband and I have never worried about the care that Mom receives or any lack of attention to her. Not only is she so well taken care of but it is truly a place for peace of mind.

Olympic is great

As the responsible party for father I couldn't be more satisfied with this facility. My father has been at Olympic for almost a year. I have watched his over all health improve through their attention. The staff is passionate, collaborative and very welcoming of our extended families involvement in my dad's care. We looked at other facilities and even though this is a drive for us it defiantly was the best.

Western State

My mom has been abused and neglected here. She has bitten off her teeth. I have called 911 because she was slumped over at her table. They will not get help for their clients because they do not want to get caught with the injuries they have inflicted on their clients. I have witnessed injuries to the head. Black eyes. Bruising on arms. I have dropped off supplies to alleviate the problem and they never used them. They caused my mom severe tooth decay and she eats paper towels. The staff and owners let them starve. They just want the beds filled. I hope my mom is relocated to a safe and caring facility.

Anywhere but there

I came to volunteer since my recently passed loved was recently a resident there and was appalled by the lack of caring the staff gives. The smell of pee and other bodily functions (to put it nicely) is so overwhelming you can't help but feel for these poor people. Please from the bottom of my heart do not put your loved ones here!

Horrible Place

Not sure what is more concerning. That Olympic is always understaffed, the building smells like month old pee or that they leave their residents wet. I wouldn't put anyone I loved here again. Horrible place and the management staff is one of the worst I've ever worked with.

Beware - don't take your loved one here

Don't take your loved one here! Staff is very undertrained. Management is worse. We specially asked for our Dad to not have life sustaining treatment. Untrained staff allowed emergency services to do CPR. HORRIBLE place.

ok..

My mother in law was not there at Olympic Alzheimer's Residence very long before they had to transfer her out. She was only there for about ten days. During that time the experience was ok. Not great, but not bad. Some of their care services could improve. Also, some of the staff can be a little more forthright and helpful.

Don't take a loved one here!

At Olympic Alzheimer's Residence, your loved one will be viewed by the management as nothing more than a commodity. We had to move my mother-in-law out after she had only been there one month. They will lie to get your money and then over medicate your loved one so they won't have to be bothered with them. The workers there really care but the management does not and the workers fear for their jobs so they are afraid to speak up. The workers did let us know that the only reason the director is there is because the owners like her "numbers".... and that is all your loved one will become if you take them there.
