It is a lovely, friendly place. It is small enough to have that homey atmosphere but large enough to provide many of the medical and social needs "in house." The décor is bright and pleasant

Getting the assessment, right

My mom was essentially assessed incorrectly and shortly after living in Juniper it was decided that she needed to go into memory care. They were happy to accommodate my mom while we needed to make a long-term decision about where we would place my mom. Ultimately Juniper was not the place that we stayed with.

Overall would recommend

I'm extremely happy with everything!! The staff is approachable, responsive, respectful and supportive to us as a family. Room size is adequate/ closet is large enough and fits a huge dresser and full size bed. It's large enough since I don't want my mom to remain in her room. She does share a room with another resident but it hasn't seemed to be a problem. Bathroom is large and has everything needed. The single rooms are wonderful with the other side being used as a sitting area but we couldn't afford that for her. The activities are wonderful. Mom is in the memory care unit but since she is ambulatory and does not need a lot of care she does get to attend activities in the assisted living unit too. She takes part in most activities...exercise club, bingo, coloring, trivia, gardening, painting. They also have a lively courtyard that she enjoys when the weather is nice. She also loves the concerts on the other unit. She also receives PT, OT and speech therapy which she looks forward to.

Nursing Staff Subpar

I am disappointed in the nursing staff’s ability to perform such basic assessment skills as taking an appropriate blood pressure. If a nurse can’t do this correctly, I expect that their other skills are lacking as well. Scary if this was a true medical emergency. My mother pays good money to live in this facility and I would expect better trained healthcare staff than that. As a RN for over 35 years, I know how busy a nurse can be and can give them grace for most things but this is shameful. I called and asked to speak to the health director but she “was in back-to-back meetings” and would call me back. After no return call after two days, I stopped in to see her in her office. Without asking me what my visit was about, she stated she had to go to a meeting and left. Another message was left for her to call me, however, still nothing. There are other issues that need to be addressed as well but I guess no one cares enough. Poor customer service.

Our experience

5 across the board. My mother loves the camaraderie of the staff and so many friends. She loves the real long workouts and the occasional lobster. Yes, we would recommend Juniper Village at Hamilton to other families.

Not “assisted” if really needed

Mom was admitted to facility with macular degeneration. Upon total loss of her vision, my family met with administrator who stated Juniper at Hamilton hadn’t dealt with a blind client and staff was not trained to assist with basic services for mom. Mom was left to figure out an environment she couldn’t see any longer. I’ve recently learned that mom’s cellphone has been stolen. When administration was notified of the theft, an email was sent to staff seeking information. Did Juniper truly think someone would step up and admit the theft from a 96 year old blind woman? This incident is just one of many serious incidents at this facility. Housekeeping, laundry service, dietary needs and preferences, safety precautions, basic nursing care, and the wellbeing of clients are all substandard. Don’t allow the beautiful building with gorgeous interiors fool you. I’ve seen better maintained animal shelters.

Juniper Village at Hamilton review

Overall, everything has gotten better since they transitioned their management company to Juniper in March of this year. In the six months that they’ve taken over they’ve already done a survey and have scheduled a meet and greet with the residents and the new management team. The meeting is after hours, so resident advocates can attend as well which I think is great. The cost of the apartment which includes maintenance and meals is very expensive, especially considering the cost for the level of care a resident is assessed is added to the apartment fee. It is comparable to other facilities in NJ and the area where it’s located; however, Juniper is a newer facility and nicer than the others.

Mother is a new resident

I toured several places and I found Juniper to be the best match for my mother. The staff has been more than helpful getting her moved in and acclimated to her new life. When I went on the tour with [name removed]I felt a sense of ease. I felt as though he understood my whole situation and didn't just want to "sell". I was correct. Every time I turn around while visiting he is there to help. Same goes for the staff I have met so far. It is not easy taking this step and I feel from the minute I walk in the door everyone is there to help.

Look Elsewhere for Senior Living

When this facility opened as The Landings 4 years ago, it was tauted as one of the best in the area. It was very nice. They provided laundry care, cleaning of the apartments, meals, activities galore. Friendly employees and a wonderful place to reside. Since, Juniper has taken over the facility and it is awful. They now charge to do your laundry, if you want your garbage picked up more than once a week, there is a charge. They have taken away many activities these seniors looked forward to on a daily basis to get them out of their rooms, with other folks and for social enlightenment. The food is below par. Bottom line, they do not care about the residents, it's all about the bottom dollar and charging you more for less. My advice, don't let the pretty place deceive you......underneath the outer shell is a place the seniors in your life do not deserve. Far better places out there that actually care for the residents who live there.

Juniper Village at Hamilton review

With the friendliness of the staff about 90% of the staff are a 5 There are two or three aids that are a 2.5, and same goes for the care services. However based on the experience we have had so far, we would very much so recommend this community to other families.

Skyrocketing cost increase +[removed]% current rate $[removed]/month from $[removed]K for health care

Very nice community, great care staff. Unfortunately the cost of medical care has just increased by [removed]% supposedly due to inflation? That is unacceptable. Have not been hit with the rent increase yet but will post it when we find out.

It is a good community

So far our loved one has not complained about the meals and dining so we assume it is pretty good. Our loved really enjoys the activities they offer, and we do think the value for cost is right in the middle.

My Review of the Landing

My loved one is happy here. My loved one has stated that the potions of the food are small and there are only two choices to choose from at meals and this is the reason for not enjoying the food. My loved one has stated there aren't activities available for them. The staff are very lovely. Brenda and everyone are wonderful people. It is very clean and a nice community.
