Perfect amenities, activities with smaller community

We looked at several places when considering a location with my mom. She is on the very senior end of senior ages, but very independent and healthy. She didn't want too big, fancy, or loud or stuffy, but also wanted her own washer dryer. Pomeroy Independent Rochester was one of few with this feature. Units good sized, also have kitchenettes with full features, high ceilings (which make things seem more spacious), balconies or patios, and weekly light housekeeping. The food is okay, she says. Understandably has to be made to suit the tastes of many and some age expected restrictions, but plentiful. They really do a fantastic job on varying activities too. A little bit for everyone and they really make things fun! She has made some very good friends and is very happy there. We have considered this a great comfort, knowing she's happy and not alone.

My tour of Pomeroy Living Rochester Independent Living

I toured this facility. Very fancy. Nice for rich people. Beautiful place and quiet. But more stuffy attitudes and high end amenities. The other part of it is a very exclusive retirement home, so it's on the high level scale. My dad liked it because it was quiet and smaller scale. But it wasn't really for him.

Very nice place for a senior

We chose Oakmont Rochester because they had all sorts of activities provided for the residents. They all have a washer and dryer in the unit as well which was big for us. The apartment sizes are very nice and adequate for her needs. She has a generous master bedroom, bath, kitchenette, and a deck. The food is hit or miss. The best part about the community would be that even though she is in independent living, they are still watching after her. I would recommend.

Satisfied Oakmont Resident

This is a lovely community in which to live. We have many activities. I cannot comment on personal care(health care) and physical therapy as I have not needed to use these services. Other residents who have used these services report they are quite satisfied. Our bus gets us out to stores and outings. The size of the apartments are a good size.

Nice place, but probably not for us. The unit has only two closets and no place to hang coats. But most important you need to move to another building when assisted living is the next option. We would like to find a place that we can stay without moving.
