Care from their hearts

I moved my brother (I live in Texas) from [removed] to The place at Shadow Oaks after 1 yr at [removed]. From a monetary standpoint, this was a HIGHLY efficient move. From a humanitarian standpoint, the care at Shadow Oaks was worth twice what we paid at [removed]. At Shadow Oaks, he became a person to be cared for with dignity and compassion. Mentally, he was perfect. His body was failing but he was mobil, The Staff at Shadow Oaks took up his rehabilitation process with zest and quickly he became a favorite of the employees. The director, [name removed], is an effective, efficient, compassionate leader who went above and beyond her duties on a daily basis to care for my Brother. She lifted a huge burden from my mind by showing me that she had my back in every way. She communicated with me about his situation and personally provided service to him that could only come from her strong Christian faith.

Wonderful option for respite.

We were very pleased with The Place at Shadow Oaks... My brother seemed to be comfortable there and was well taken care of. He has very limited funds ...therefore we can’t use them frequently. But it is wonderful though to be offered respite for short term care.

Excellent Community for a Loved One

This is a nice and friendly atmosphere. They take really good care of the residents here. I would recommend this community to anyone that needs a community for their loved one and needed extra care. They have plenty of activities for the residents to participate in. The staff are very informative in answering or addressing the family's questions or concerns. Medication management, bathing, dressing assistance, delivery of meals, and transportation to doctor appointments is some of the care provided by the community. The apartment, utilities, all the meals, laundry, housekeeping, changing of linens, and transportation are all included in the monthly fee. The food is good for my loved one. There is a menu for the residents to order off. The community is willing to accommodate the resident's requests by delivering the meals to the resident's rooms, if needed.

Like having a second family

My mother has been a resident at Shadow Oaks for almost 2 years, she is in the memory care unit, her care is outstanding and the staff and management is awesome. They are responsive to her needs-which is super because with Alzheimers she doesn't know herself what she needs. She is always clean and staff interact with the her and the other patients so well .It;s such a trying disease and some phases are harder to deal with than others but the staff is well prepared and so kind and patient . Both staff and management keep families well informed on changes in condition and have suggested things that might work for different stages mom was going through. My mother had surgery and had to go to another facility for rehab. she did miserable she became unresponsive to her surroundings and refused to eat or co-operate in any way. the staff at Shadow Oaks came to visit her daily and it was the only animation she showed at all. Fortunately she was able to return to Shadow Oaks and the minute she returned there all her animation and appetite returned. If you are looking for a place where you and your loved one will be treated like family-this is the place!
