Review for The Bridge at Charleston

I would say: The staff, from the management, to the desk, to the maintenance is wonderful and friendly and helpful. The head nurse is a treasure! I would also say it is expensive but about the same as comparable communities.

Not what we were promised

The experience was horrific. Care was minimal at best. Food was poor. Her interactions with aides was abysmal. She stayed 6 weeks. We moved Amy back to Ocala in worse health than when she left. She immediately went to life care for pt for approximately 4 weeks. She never truly bounced back. I was told by corporate a lot of staff changes were taking place. No excuse for quality of care IMO. I would tell others to talk to residents or family members if possible. Get info first hand.

Good fit for my Mom

The staff is caring and takes a personal interest in the residents The only complaint I hear is about the food, but I can't substantiate that I would recommend The Bridge at Charleston to others looking

Disappointed

If you can get yourself down to meals and fend for yourself, all is good. If not - good luck. Not an abundance of empathy. Based off of our experience, I do not recommend The bridge at Charleston.

The Bridge of Charleston Community

Dad was there for a little over a month, His health did not let him enjoy the staff and amenities of the community. Our family experience with the staff and residents was wonderful. The director was extremely professional and helpful with every question and the medical director was nothing short of superb. For a loved one that will assimilate and adjust , I could not imagine a better community.

My mother has been a resident at the Bridge for 1 year. Since being there, her health has improved tremendously as well as her cognitive state. I believe this is due to getting her meds on time and regularly, socialization and nutritious meals. As well as a loving environment.

Review for The Bridge at Charleston

We picked this community, because of the appearance, staff, and cleanliness. My loved one likes it. It's always a little bump, but good. I would absolutely recommend it to other families. I think it is a good place.

Our experience at The Bridge at Charleston

There seemed to be a change in attitude once my loved one moved in. Before he moved in, there was a lot of enthusiasm and caring about us in general, but once we moved in, that waned. The only positive constant was [name removed] and the male director whose name I can't recall. I felt my loved one received better care overall on the Memory Care side, but I understand that may be due to not having as many residents in that unit. (he eventually was moved over to the assisted living side). My loved one said the food was really good when he first got there but then got worse. Staff changes. Telling him he couldn't have eggs for breakfast but not explaining why. He was even offered "better food" and a "lower rate" before he moved out. I can hope that was said in jest, but I wasn't there and my dad said it wasn't.

My review of The Bridge at Charleston

It just did not feel like a happy place. There were multiple staff changes during the time my loved one was there. Aide response time was slow. My suggestions for improvement would be response time and more caring staff. We had no problems with [name removed], the Director.

I think The Bridge is a decent place

This facility has been great overall. The staff at this facility have done a lot to help my mom and have really gone out of their way to make her feel at home, including nurses, kitchen staff, and housekeeping staff. I'm very happy with how they treat her. She's safe, well taken care of, and getting what she needs here. My only complaint would be the lack of staff and staff turnover. I asked about that prior to moving mom in and was told that they have a stable, consistent staff. Lately that hasn't been the case and I'm hoping that it's temporary. I will say, there are staff members here who have worked at the facility for 10+ years, but there has also been quite a bit of turnover. I've seen turnover in several departments including nurses, office staff, and housekeeping staff. I'd just like to see more consistency and for mom to have the same staff around her consistently everyday. We did have one issue that disappointed me. The heat went out for over half of mom's building during a recent cold spell, it was out for 4 days and the water was out for 2 days. I wasn't notified, I went to visit mom and that's how I found out. When I complained about not being notified, the facility finally sent an email out to families to let them know. But I feel like that should have been done/communicated immediately. They had no back up plan, so I ended up purchasing a space heater for mom to use- which isn't ideal for many reasons. Otherwise, communication with the family has been pretty good. Housekeeping and Laundry are done weekly and trash is collected daily. That's been impacted a little bit lately due to staffing shortages, but not terrible. All in all, compared to what I've seen I think this facility is one of the better one's in the area. I'm happy with mom being here and I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

The best quality for the price in this area

Overall, I like this facility and it's been a good experience so far. I love that the staff recognize me and know who I am/who I'm there to visit. I feel that I can go to them with any problems, I just wish there were more of them. They seem to be spread a bit thin and adding more staff members could alleviate that. But the staff that they do have are great. They were really helpful during the move in and transition process. They also connected us with someone local to help with getting VA benefits, which was a huge help. Housekeeping and laundry is once a week and they do a good job. I've never seen this facility not clean. The activities are awesome, they try to encourage the residents to be active. They email a monthly activities Calendar and also post a schedule in the elevator. That's been very helpful for us, since our loved one won't participate unless I take her. They have a beautician on site, but services are expensive. They provide free basic cable in each room. The meals are wonderful, I've joined my loved one several times. They always have choices and the food always looks so good. My loved one eats better than I do! Additionally, they have a Nurse Practitioner and Dr who come through twice a week. I like that my loved one is monitored and evaluated often. The staff also works well with my loved one and her Dementia. I would recommend this facility to friends and family!

Feels like family

What sticks out about The Bridge at Charleston is: 1.) It is convenient located in a friendly community. The staff is wonderful and they make every resident feel like family. My father absolutely loved it there. 2.) They are also close to a college with a football team. For all the football fans, they can sit outside and listen to the game.

The best place ever!

My mom and I both love The Bridge at Charleston. She loves the food and has even gained a little weight, which means she’s doing good there. They have raised the prices, but on the outside I’ve noticed that inflation is something we are facing right now. I explained that to my mom and I understand that as well. The staff are like my family. I love each and every one of them because they've gone above and beyond to provide a level of comfort for my mom and that really means a lot. Considering where she came from, I just love them to pieces here. They’ve done everything they’ve needed to do, in order to get my mom to a good space; and because of that I am forever loyal to them. If another family member of ours needs a place, they will be here. I’ve told friends at work and family that I am very pleased and I’d recommend them to go. I’ve recommended that every one of my loved ones should come and check them out. I really appreciate how hospitable they are and how genuinely concerned they are about providing for my mom. They do an amazing job of keeping in touch with our family. There’s never an “I don’t know” moment because they communicate with us so well. I wish I’d known about The Bridge prior to moving her in the previous community. They have earned our trust and everyone should know about them because you will not be dissatisfied. Again, I am very happy!

My mom is safe and cared for here

We chose The Bridge because they offered a whirlpool bath which my mother loved and she was able to get a shared room so it was more affordable. They share a bathroom but she does have her own room. They also offered her her covid shots even before we moved in which was very nice of them. The staff members here are very friendly and welcoming. They do have a large variety of food on the menu and mom loves it. I am very happy with our choice and would recommend to others.

Great Staff, Great Location, Wonderful Site

I would suggest you look into the community if you can afford it. They all are very interactive and each one of the staff knows what everyone else is doing. The communication is very good between staff members.
