AWESOME

It's very clean and the staff is friendly. The caregivers and the staff have just been phenomenal. They are very welcoming and open.I am totally pleased with the entire staff and other residents. There is no extreme wait for a caregiver if needed. They do encourage residents to participate in activities

great place

The first day my mother moved in I attended a meal with her. They called her by name, greeted her kindly, and made it clear that she was welcome and at home there. It is really great place and I would highly recommend Winding Commons.

HAPPY AND SAFE!!!!!

My Mom and Dad moved into a 2bdr apartment at River Oaks a year ago. Six months later my father passed away. River Oaks was unbelievably supportive and helped us get Mom into a 1bdr right across the hall from where they were. Mom loves her apartment....she has a beautiful view of the west mountains and enjoys the sunsets. From the first day my husband and I walked into River Oaks for a tour we noticed how clean everything was and how all the staff acknowledged us. We knew right away this was the place for Mom and Dad. We enjoyed the noon meal which is the "main meal". It was very good and the portions were just the right size. We sat down and noticed when the residents sat at their tables the staff came by each table and took the walkers and parked them in the other room and when they were done the staff brought their walkers back to them. The first week mom and dad were there we ate with them a lot. From the first day we all ate at River Oaks the staff knew all of our names. I was amazed! River Oaks has a great activity program and the director is fantastic. Trips to doctors, shopping (both grocery and the Mall), out to lunch to different restaurants and 2 or 3 times a month they go for "just a ride" (which Mom loves as she's not from this area). There are a lot of activities during the week to choose from. For every holiday they have a buffet and program which the families are encouraged to attend for a minimal fee. My husband and I have attended every one of them and we have a fantastic time. The most important part of having my Mom at River Oaks is knowing that she is safe and if she doesn't show up for a meal or an activity she is usually at they immediately call her or go to her apartment to check on her.

genuinely caring, could use more activities

They could have a few more activities, such as crafts and such, to keep us engaged. They said they have a few things along those lines, but I have not noticed much, and I would like a few things like that to do besides watching television. The food here at The Arbor Senior Apartments is really fantastic. The People that work here are so nice and sweet, and very genuinely caring.

It's just been a month, but Mom is starting to break out her shell and join in a few activities. Front office staff is awesome, Couple of livable downfalls is residents don't seem to have a voice in evaluating the food. It is certainly not cafeteria food, but it would very small effort/addition to improve customer satisfaction. The other disappointment is the 'housekeeper' doesn't pick up a garbage can or move a piece of furniture to clean under things; cleans around. Value is hard to judge as joining any type of senior community is very expensive to what you're used to.

Independent Living with Lots of Activities

They don't have a lot of care services. They really only do light cleaning, they clean the sheets, and they cook. My dad is 92 and I really need more care for him. I have a girl that goes in every other week and does his clothes and the things that he needs. It's just independent living. I think the meals are pretty good. I think the activities are great. They always seem to have something going on. They do bingo, a little baseball game, cocktail parties, a lot of really fun things since I've been acquainted with them. The problem is if you can't get on the bus to go do the offsite activities and there's nobody that lives there that is willing to help you then they don't take you because they don't do assisted living so that's a problem for us. They don't help them onto the bus. They said they don't have insurance to do that.

Arbor living was really great!

They had a really friendly staff. The whole experience was great. My family member was there a short time before passing, but he absolute loved it. He had a 1-bedroom apartment that was very nice, with a full kitchen. Everything was really nice in there.

Experience of our family

My mom became a resident after downsizing from a larger home. She instantly loved the experience at Hiiltop Commons. Her social opportunity expanded, she felt part of a small community, and above all she felt safe and cared for. Although she passed away after only two years of residency, our relationship with the staff has continued. They are professional when neccessary, but most importantly are all personal in their dealings . God Bless them.

It really does feel like home to Mom

It's been almost 4 years ago that Mom and Dad made the huge decision to make life easier for both of them. After visiting other facilities, Mom knew the minute she walked into Hilltop, she was "home." The friendships have brought Mom through a very difficult time when Dad went home to be with Jesus. The staff is very creative in all the planned activities. They are always friendly and willing to make Mom's life as easy as possible. Knowing she is comfortable and happy is such a relief for me as well. Hilltop Commons is a very special place. All it takes is a willing spirit to want to get along together, and make new friends. Mom has succeeded in doing both.
