We chose Brookdale Liverpool because of the geography, recommended, and price. Friendly. Activities were the same old routine. Need to mix up with new activities more. Seems strictly for still independent, and constant base line care. Any changes in health needs difficult for staff to identify and assist. Very, very friendly.

This is a quick review of Brookdale on Long Branch Road in Liverpool, N.Y. I am a friend of a resident who has been there since [date removed]. My Mother was in this same facility when it had a different owner around 2006 when she was 84. We were very pleased with her care! She never wanted to leave her house but she loved it there. My friend is much younger than my Mother. My friend is happy at Brookdale and really enjoys the company of others and the friendships she has made. I have sometimes eaten there with my friend and there is a nice variety of food choices. The residence is clean, freshly painted, warm and cozy in the gathering areas. The people who work there are kind and friendly. A few aesthetic things that I think could be addressed would be... keeping the entrance cleaner. I know lots of people go in and out each day so I think it is an area that maybe should be checked out often especially during the winter months. The gazebo outside has very old worn cloth cushions very uninviting. During the entire summer season they were never replaced! They did not look clean and I never saw anyone sit out there even though people sat on the benches right outside the building. Maybe something with material that was colorful and could be wiped down periodically would hold up better. I know my friend enjoys the activities at Brookdale: singing, Bookclub, special dinners, field trips to the store and places in the community, prayer services/ reciting the rosary and daily exercise. Another suggestion, I think the residents would enjoy more group games besides BINGO. My Mother enjoyed doing lots of crafts and even had an Easter hat she made for herself! The monthly cost is a little high but it is the going rate in our area and is proportionately within reason to the price we paid for our Mother so many years ago.

I was impressed with the genuine thoughtfulness that the staff showed to my mother and the understanding that this was an entire change to her living environment. They made the transition not only easy on mom but also on her family.

My mother's care was ok. Except when they messed up her eye med which made her have to stay longer. Staff was ok food operations were very good. She made couple new friends. Hopefully she won't have to go to assist living again.

Her time there was good except after her eye surgery they don't ready meds and she was taking a medication that should of been stopped and caused her to have to stay longer by at least a month

The community looks out for each other. Whether it is the individuals supplying services, or the residents themselves. This is a statement from my mother, and shared by me. Mom initially had her doubts whether this life changing experience would be a positive one, but as soon as we walked in for our tour, we were greeted with friendliness, and people who took an interest in my mothers personality, interests, and the life she lived. They are arranging activities that would conform to her interests for the best experience possible. The stresses of doing the right thing for my mom have been allev iated.

My mother did not receive good care. I have a lot of issues with this place. My mother has since passed away. The last year of her life was absolutely miserable. I would not recommend this place. As far as cleanliness, there were at least three times when I found the ladies room a mess with overflowing trash onto the floor. Other times when I told them they needed toilet paper and/or paper towels. These things can happen anywhere, right. But here they didn't take care of these issues when advised. That is, I could come back the next day and find they hadn't cleaned the bathroom. Also, my mother's health went downhill very quickly after she was admitted to Brookdale. When she moved in there she was able to do a lot for herself. But when she became incontinent, she needed more care. And this only got worse as time went on. She also fell A LOT. Sometimes the other residents told me they heard her crying for help and went into her room, then called for someone to help her. Whenever they showed up they did so reluctantly. Worst of all is that she was practically comatose some days, and they would wheel her to the dining room anyway, and I would find her there sleeping and slipping from her chair. Nobody cared. I don't know why it was so important for them to drag her down there when she wasn't going to eat. When we finally had her transferred to a nursing home, she had to have a physical before they could admit her. She was found to have pneumonia.

The overall experience was very good especially for the price. I don't know if I'd change anything right now. The location is great and the facility has a very good reputation in the area.

I love that she is safe and happy. She has friends and is involved. I wish it were cleaner. I am not sure how it could be, with a population who is so needy. But that is my only complaint.

There used to be more activity, but a lot have been canceled. Rent went up over [removed]$ a month and the food has gotten worse and the activity limited. I think the staff is excellent, and hey are trying to hire new people to fill the shortage and the new people they hired are really good.

When it comes to the meals and dining service our loved one says sometimes the food is cold by the time she is served. We cannot comment on the activities as our loved one does not participate in them. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to others. Overall, very happy with them.

They were the first to reach out to me. And they are 5 minutes from my home. I know my mom is in a safe environment and she is getting hers meds and 3 meals a day. Very happy with her care there.

My mom required probably more care than most other residents. The Brookdale staff was very accommodating with her needs. I would recommend Brookdale Liverpool for those looking into assisted living for their loved ones.

We were pleased with and really liked Brookdale Liverpool. Mom is safe, happy and has rejoined life. When it comes to the cleanliness we were told the rooms were cleaned once a week and that has not always been the case. However the staff members are super nice, helpful and trustworthy.

[name removed] (sales manager?) and the entire staff were WONDERFUL with us! It was a long (2 1/2 months) and complicated process of getting Dad moved from North Carolina to here but so worth it!! Dad and his dog feel at home already and it's only been a month! He has 'made friends' and loves the staff We are also pleased with the health care which has been set up for us. Moving from out of state and having lived alone in independent living at 95 for the past year he needed a lot of care. This has been seamless and he likes his doctors! Thank you everyone!!! The only complaint is limited daytime activities and religious services. He attends and enjoys bible study but wishes there was a weekly service he could attend. He also misses playing cards like bridge or pinochle. Other then that he is happy and I feel better having him close.

The place is not always very clean. Sometimes they have items on their menu and then they don't actually have the food. Activities are lame and my Mom does not participate.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought the tour experience was just fine and the gentlemen [name removed] that took us on the tour was very friendly. However at the time due to our loved ones needs this was just not going to be the best fit.
