There is an open door policy with the administration and staff encouraging the families to speak with them about any issues or questions that may occur.

1. Horrible! We pulled him out two weeks ago. He was covered in bruises, and we later found out he has several cracked ribs. They also did not give him his specifically prescribed medication correctly or on time. EVER! LOTS OF agency folks too. They are just there for the pay check! 2. It was pretty clean most of the time. 3. They are friendly unless your loved one actually needs attention or if a visitor is there observing. The management flat out lied on a number of occasions about the well being and behavior of my FIL. 4. See my responses to #1. 5. See my comments in #3. 6. Food was okay, not terrible. 7. When they actually had the "activities" it was okay, but nothing like they say they will be doing when you come for an initial visit! 8. Over priced and criminal based on the lack of care that my FIL received! I cannot in any way shape or form recommend this place to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.

There's no cleaning schedule for residents rooms. Same debris, dust, bugs, (soiled latex gloves) are on floor, not picked up for months. Toilets have pink and black mold inside and outside. Tried engaging local management, they promise to address but no actual results. Meal food is cheap, lots of pasta and simple lunch meat. No secondary option if resident doesn't like the main entrée offer. Staff might offer a lunchable or peanut butter crust less. Huge turnover in staff. Difficult to find the few staff members to relate to cause they leave quickly.

We moved our loved one here after having a negative and unhealthy experience at another community close by. Brookdale has a stable and caring staff and does not rely on agency caregivers. It is so important to have reliable, stable and patient caregivers for the residents that rely on a routine and familiar faces. Our family appreciates the extra efforts and kindness everyone brings to work each day, it is noticed and a huge relief for the families. Very friendly, warm, want to be helpful. Care--inconsistent, need better oversight, better attention to detail; Communication among staff and between staff and family is improving since admission (when it seemed initially non-existent). Food--pretty tasty, wish they had more healthy options. Overall, not bad for a facility. Although Brookdale is not perfect (no place is), they have been responsive and made successful efforts to improve areas of concern and my husband is doing better there. I wanted to give them a chance to do better before reviewing them--and they have improved. For that, I'm grateful.

They were very helpful and prompt on helping me complete paperwork. Even when I told them we weren't sure what we wanted to do they called me once a month to check on my parents and if they could help in any way.

The catheter management was not what we thought. Not sure if all techs are trained? We hosted Thanksgiving and a birthday party there. Staff very accommodating. Room we used for these 2 events was great. Father in law is Jewish. Can't mix meat and dairy. Seemed like not many choices for him. His taste is not the same, so he commented it was bland. But that just may be him. They offered us all cake one night and it was very good. And...the staff was great. Very friendly and approachable. The day he arrived staff was in lobby to greet and they had his name on a welcome sign. We sent the video to our family and everyone was impressed.

Experience was effortless once the family narrowed down community choices to a single one. Before, it was a lot of appointments and tours. Why Brookdale? Because it's close to other family, safe neighborhood, all inclusive rates for memory care and a smaller community with a more intimate feel.

My father was at the community for a total of 2 weeks in [date removed]. During that time, his medications were given incorrectly, he was not given the services that we were charged for such as showering, helping to dress, escort to meals and more. Worse than that, one day I walked in to find that he had slept in his clothes, never had a pullup change and this was the following evening. I could smell him from the hallway! They apologized and promised it would never happen again. Several days later he fell and told me he had to crawl to the hallway and yell for help. There were two more incidents in that same week and I pulled him out. As far as I am concerned I wouldn't put my worst enemy in this facility!!

My father-in-law was actually at Brookdale West County for a while and we all loved it there. The reason we had to move him out was just because of the cost. It was more than my mother in law was wanting to pay.

We really appreciated how much the staff members were willing to work with us and accommodate us. The community itself is very presentable and is well kept on the inside and outside. Our loved one really enjoys the meals and dining service and when we come to visit it does seem like they have plenty of activities going on. We would recommend this community to other families based on our experience so far.

Things did not work out well for our Mom at Brookdale West County. After a week at this facility, she is now back in her house with her son and brother to see to her immediate needs. It would have been great to keep her close to home, but the situation was so bad here that future plans involve taking her out of town to be sure that she is getting appropriate care. For anyone looking into Dementia care in West County St Louis, we DO NOT recommend Brookdale. We were with her there most of the time during the week she was there, and staff was inadequate and possibly abusive. Activities involving these residents were minimal, and inappropriate. The place is in the middle of administrative transition, and no one was enforcing policies. Residents were suffering as a result. The facility is beautiful, but don't let that fool you. In the end, it is about the staff and the care they do (or in this case do not) provide for your loved one.

Everybody that worked here was very friendly, they were just short handed on some occasions during our stay. For the most part though it was a good experience and overall I would recommend them to others looking.

This community was okay but they may have had some issues supporting my loved one if there was a hoya lift needed. Nothing negative just the care at that time may have not been there for my loved one.

The communication is great. We are able to reach whoever we need to very quickly. The staff is involved and they know what's going on. When there are activities they take photos and send them to the family. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.
