Severe staff shortage

Biggest concern is the staff shortage here. Sometimes there are only 3 people working on an entire wing. The staff can be overheard talking about all of their double shifts, employees not showing up, how tired they are. The kitchen doesn’t pay attention to what is supposed to be on the food trays. They never get it right even after many complaints. Lack of staff means lack of care for things like changing, bathing, feeding, turning, and spending any amount of time with the patients. The weekends are worse. Dirty rooms and the reason is that they don’t pay people enough to work there as a janitor. We have called the local ombudsman, an elder abuse attorney and plan to file more complaints. I understand that there’s a shortage of health care workers….maybe the for-profit owners should think about paying more to employees. We see the SAME staff here EVERY DAY. They shouldn’t be allowed to have so many patients, but as long as Medicare, Medicaid and private funds are paying…..
