It is pleasant, clean and the staff were pretty attentive and the food was good. The layout of the facility gives the residents plenty of space. This opinion is based on a rather limited time frame as they could not handle my wife's "aggressiveness", although they assured me before admitting her that they were fully trained and experienced with all behaviors.

At Brookdale South Park, the dementia-trained staff members understand there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to memory care. Here, each individual can expect a personalized experience. This means every resident receives a tailored care plan with consistent care assignments.
There are two Brookdale memory programs available here: Clare Bridge and Solace. Although it was created more than 30 years ago, the Clare Bridge program continually evolves with new research, and the goal is to provide residents with six planned activities per day. These activities encourage residents to use their current skills, while preserving their abilities and true self. The Solace program does not replace any elements of Clare Bridge. Instead, it adds additional programming, such as music and aromatherapy, while providing assistance with bathing, dressing, and more.
Rest assured, staff members are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. Additionally, residents benefit from community safety features, including a 24-hour security system and keypad entries. Assistive physical features are also present on-site, such as large circular paths designed to lead residents to areas of activity, as well as way-finding cues, and spaces that are decorated to feel like home.

I am shocked to pay $[removed] a month and to have a room big enough for a twin bed and a chair, to find our loved one in dirty clothes, hair not brushed teeth not brushed, poo under our loved one's nails..... and items constantly missing. It's heart breaking. But I have been told that even in the higher priced care facilities, that it's not any better. So I continue to go over at different times of the day for at least 4 days a week. We have a friend come in to make sure our loved one is clean and engaged.

My mom has been living in Brookdale for 9 months and I cannot be happier. The facility is warm & welcoming as [name removed]has a fabulous sense of style. [name removed] & [name removed]are always around to lend a helping hand and were so very helpful when we were setting up my mom’s room. [name removed]was also patient and great at helping with the paperwork. [name removed], [name removed], [name removed]& [name removed]have been my mom’s best friends since she arrived and I know those 4 were integral into helping her settle in so quickly. [name removed]does a wonderful job as the director of Nursing and I know mom is in good hands with her care. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Brookdale. You will not regret moving your loved one here.

The LPN in charge of nursing and the caregivers, [name removed] is excellent, as is the activity director. Most of the caregivers were very kind and caring, but they need more caregivers. They were often short staffed, especially on weekends. The clients rooms are small and could be kept cleaner, but their philosophy is that the client residents should be out of their rooms and busy with activities and walking around most of the day. It is a very open plan, and residents are free to roam any and all of the many hallways and common areas. They are also able to go outside with supervision. They have beautiful grounds which are fairly large, with elevated flower/vegetable gardens who enjoy that.

The facility itself is clean and pleasant. The caregivers seem concerned and attentive. My wife was there for two weeks when she had an "incident" with either another resident or staff member. She was sent to the hospital to "have her medications "adjusted " . After three weeks she was assessed able to return to the facility. 20 hours later there is another incident and she is back in the hospital, this time for 6 weeks, during which Brookdale informed me that she could not return to their facility. I was left to find another memory care facility for her.

Everyone is friendly and helpful. The CNA's do their best, and seem very caring and kind, but residents need to have a degree of independence, rather than need 1:1 care as per state requirements there is an 8:1 caregiver to resident ratio. Meals and activities are good. Rooms do not have showers, but they have a nice private shower room. The Health Wellness Director, and Sales Manager are outstanding. The front desk personnel are also extremely helpful.

Brookdale South Park I thought was very dark (light wise) inside and we had a lady from our church that had a bad experience there. Plus, it was really too far from my house. These were the main reasons we did not choose this facility.

Very poor communication and assistance from [name removed], the sales manager. Tells me that she will call me, but never does. I have to keep reaching out to her. I ask her about staffing at community and she says I will need to reach out to nursing team to get the numbers. As a sales manager, I would expect her to have that information available to provide to prospective residents. Very disappointed at my interaction with her. If she is the representative of the community, I would not feel comfortable sending a loved one into this community.

This is a really nice community. It is well kept, with friendly staff. The staff communication with the family could be better. It would be nice to have the staff contact us when things happen with my loved one or changes. I would recommend the family keep in contact with the staff about your loved one. Absolutely I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

Brookdale has been great. The staff is friendly. We do not have as much as support from staff as promised, but there are a few really good caregivers. And the activities directors are great.

The actvities did not work out for my loved one. My loved one would, have loved to engage in more outdoor activites. The food options were not good, and was not a balanced diet, and my loved one was not getting vegetables The staff did the best to their ability. There was a turnover in staff but they always tried to make accomadtions-. Overall, I never had a negative experience.

If we could give Brookdale South Park 10 stars we would, we have been extremely happy with our loved ones care, we have nothing but great things to say about them. They have been so accommodating to our mother, they have gone well out of their way to keep us updated on everything that is going on. If she is ever having a bad day they will call us so we can come up and be with her. When she moved in and had to go through her 7 day quarantine they allowed me to stay with her the entire time. With us still having to quarantine we were set up in a space that had a living room, a nice kitchen and even a little space outside. They have a ton of different daily activities going on as well. We would highly recommend this community

We had a terrible experience, including multiple issues with medications - wrong dosages given, pills dropped on the floor and then they said they could not administer or replace them, one essential medication not given at all for three days because they couldn't cut a pill in half. There were no clinical people except for one nurse for the whole facility. There were no certified nursing assistants, no certified med techs, nothing. I know it's a bad time with Covid, but they just did not have staff in general. There was no communication between staff in the facility. My loved one's bathroom floor was slippery - he and I both slid, and he actually fell. We told the staff about it and had to fight them to do anything about it. The majority of the residents were low functioning and did not speak, so he had no social interaction. The food was horrible. I think it all goes back to how highly understaffed they are. They have only five core people: the sales person, the Executive Director, the maintenance person, the nurse, and the chef. I think they really did try. But my loved one was just not getting care. And It was just a very bad, unfortunate experience.

The community has a homey feeling. Our loved one tells us this place is great all the time. Communication is good between the staff and our family and they keep us well informed and up to date. I would recommend this community to others.

I took a tour of this community and it was nice and clean and the set up was cute with neighborhoods and had a cozy homey feel. There did not seem to be any activities going on while I was there, but it was close to lunch time. This community caters strictly to memory care. It has a nice family style kitchen area which was different from other communities I visited which were more restaurant style. They have several spaces where residents can relax and a lovely outdoor area. For me the only concerns I have is the distance from my house, a mention that sometimes you can find residents sleeping in someone else's room (not sure my mom would handle that well), and some negative reviews about Brookdale in general and this location, based on a conversation I had with a health care professional that does family support visits.

Still undecided on this location. I'm going to have to do a bit of research on them. The concept and design are good, but I seen more a staff standing around talking and guest just wondering; then engaging. It may be the certain staff have limited functions.
