Brookdale

My brother and I toured several assisted living homes for our mom and we felt Brookdale was superior, by far, for many reasons. My brother jokingly said the Brookdale director paid $5 to many residents for them to come out and be friendly. We didn't get that at any other place ( and she did not pay them, by the way). The staff, within just a short while, knew my mom and even us! The staff is so sweet to all the residents!! There are always so many activities for the residents to enjoy. It's actually hard now to reach mom on her landline as she's always out of her room enjoying being with other residents in one of the lovely screened porches or the gazebo, if weather allows. The temperature in the common areas is nice for the residents and they monitor the heat in their own apartments, to their liking. The main thing that swayed my brother and I about Brookedale's staff is that they have nurses there all the time that really work with my sister ( mom's medical power of attorney) to monitor her occasional issues (UTI or ear wax buildup) as well as her daily medicines,etc. The staff really could not be any nicer or accommodating to mom - like when she oversleeps and would otherwise miss her noon meal, which is their main meal- they have taken her a tray. We are thrilled with how mom is treated there and how much she likes it there ( food too!!)

I would give all 8 category's a 5! They were amazing. They took amazing care of my father in law. Kept us very informed. We visited at all different times and was always pleased. The staff treated us like we were family. If I ever had to put a loved one in memory care again this would be the place.

Staff and administrative staff are Amazing. Very caring.

I recently moved a family member into Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. The facility is warm, cheerful, welcoming, clean, well equipped and maintained throughout. The staff members are simply outstanding - they are friendly, caring, listen well, attentive, and strive to ensure the residents and their caregivers are well taken care of. Many of the staff members have been employees for more than 5 to 10 years. The nursing staff work well with outside health providers to build a comprehensive care team. Overall the family experience was outstanding. I have every confidence my family member will be well cared for there.

It is a small facility and I knew my mom would do better at it than a larger facility. It is Very easy to talk to staff to resolve issues. We have had a very good experience

1. 5 2. 4 (that's a lot of rooms to clean in detail as well as older folks tend to stash stuff and DONT dare touch it, anyone!) 3. 5 definitely 4. 5 they bend over backwards for my person and she isn't easy to win over, but they have 5. 5 everyone s friendly, helpful and readily available 6. 5 when we have eaten with her, it's been good & overall she doesn't mention anything bad 7. 5 [name removed] works really hard to have varied activities and involve the residents 8. 5 we are satisfied with the value and it may even be a smidge under cost of a few other places around (we checked a year ago when we were needing to have info)

I think the only other comment that I would like to make is it the staff was more than willing to help no matter what the situation. And when [name removed] passed away, some of the staff actually came to Langley for the services.

The facility focus and experience in demen. care, location proximity to family members, smaller size and manageable layout of facility living area seemed appropriate. At times there were some staff changes that temporarily left understaffed to those positions, but later resolved. that may be goes with territory.

I'd like to brag on one of the employees at Brookdale Union Square, [name removed]. From our first phone call, [name removed] has been such a blessing. She always finds a way to help answer any of our questions. If my Mother in law's phone goes out, she's right there, and tv as well. Brookdale is absolutely wonderful, and it starts with [name removed]. She's a great asset to the company. Everyone there is great, but to us, [name removed] stands out the most. We felt like a friend the minute we met her.

The people were so friendly and so helpful. We had a family emergency and had to act fast to help us move in. They helped arrange things, including communicating with doctors for us for medicines. Always very professional but kind at the same time. Minor issue but important was that door security was always done properly. Felt secure that my love one was there.

The staff are very friendly and always helpful. The grounds are kept up immaculately. Plenty of activities for as much or as little as you would like.

We are so pleased with Brookdale. The staff and everyone there have gone above and beyond what we expected. My sister is thriving I never thought she would leave her room and they have been able to get her involved in the activities. Blake is wonderful with the residents. [name removed] and [name removed] have been so attentive to her needs. The facility is clean and beautiful. A wonderful community!

The friendliness of the staff is a definite 5 plus. I am in independent care, not needing nursing care or any help, so this doesn't apply. The staff are very helpful, very friendly, very supportive. The meals and dining could be a little better but keep in mind they are cooking for close to 100 people , three times a day and I am sure there is not an unlimited budget. Many, many activities and movies in the facility and many day trips by bus also social hours and celebrations for birthdays and national holidays with appropriate decorations and special snack treats. Compared to other similar places none of these are inexpensive but I think you are getting your money's worth here at Brookdale Spruce Wood

[name removed] passed away 4 hours after admittance. However, my daughter and I have deep gratitude for the care provided by staff prior to admittance and the time prior to her passing. For instance, I had to leave to take care of legal concerns. The director came and sat with her until my daughter & hospice nurse could arrive.

I would say 5 for all but the food which was just ok. Maybe a 3 for food. But they were so accommodating for our mom. Whatever she wanted they would bring her like ice cream etc. They were all very friendly and helpful in every way.

They get all 5 stars. They are responsive, caring and attentive.

It is a Homey atmosphere. They have a Caring staff and dedicated activity director and nursing supervisor.

I loved the place. Theda, the nurse, totally went above and beyond! As a nurse myself I knew how great she was! [name removed], the person that handles the visit etc. felt like family! When my mother needs full time care.... this is the only place I will consider. I was very comfortable with my mom there.

Brookdale Mt Vernon has been wonderful. The workers have been so kind and helpful.

We’re always kept informed, which gives us incredible peace of mind.
